Another great free and Open Source utility is DBAN – Darik’s Boot and Nuke. This is a great bootable CD/Floppy that securly erases disks. Ever want to sell or get rid of a hard disk or PC? This lets you be sure that there is no data on the disk. It boots up straight from the floppy and will securly erase all data on a hard disk.

The first of the utilies is Trillian basic (Thanks to Max for this!)
Trillian is a multi protocol Instant Message client. It connects to AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and IRC. It has a nice interface and is easy to use out of the box. It lacks jabber support – Which is available in Trillian pro (but that costs money). I personally don’t use jabber all that much.

I have spent the last while collecting free utilites for my PC. I am posting the best of them here. Some are open source. Some are just free.
The criteria for being put on the list are:
1) free
2) easy to use
3) Small footprint. No Bloat.
