Icon Restore
I keep my icons a certain way on my desktop and it pisses me off annoys me when an application decides that it needs to re-order them. I found a neat small piece of software that fixes this – Icon Restore.
When all your Icons are the way you want you right click on the “My computer” Icon and select “Save Desktop Icon Layout” and the program saves your desktop layout.
After some program/screen resize/kid/pesky co-worker messes up your desktop you click “Restore Desktop Icon Layout” and everything is back the way you had it.

Strange behaviour. I have one icon to which it doesn’t relate. Restores all the others but doesn’t move that one.

Just got Win7 and icon_restore didn’t work.
Found a similar utility which the CNET editors rated 5/5.
