so many people work very hard to keep Enemy Territory alive.
somebody makes maps.sounds.bots, etc
these people are one of a kind. They get nothing for doing the work. And it takes up so much time. so a big thank you to all people working very hard on
Enemy Territory. without you game would die.

So next time you play on game, and see something really good sounds.map.ect.
Let the server host Know he/she is doing a good job.

Nice tool BUT
does anyone know how I can disable the Ctrl+R (rename tab) key binding?
Ctrl+R is really useful for reverse-command search in bash, but Putty Connection Manager always throws up an annoying Rename Tab dialog!

I disagree about the best option. The last 3 machines I've setup have zero codecs installed. I use TheKMPlayer as my default media player and haven't installed or updated a codec in years - they're all built in and seamless to the user.
Receommend you give it a shot. It also has one other killer feature: it automatically remembers where you're up to in every file you've played with it.

That is odd. I tried opening files on my system and it works fine. You might need to check your Regional and Language options to ensure that you are using Hebrew as your language for non Unicode programs.

I've used Yankee Clipper for years ("careware" version)
Provides similar functionality plus:
* boiler plates
* filtering by format (e.g., text, graphic, url)
Excellent tool

The question is also whether the memory usage is better than in Gimp.

I had several problems working with Gimp. Firstly having to rename two DLLs in my System32 folder never really appealed to me. Secondly the GUI - but you can get used to that - and thirdly I found that if I opened several iamges at once to edit then I quickly ran out of resources.

This is absolutely terrible. I spent 2 hours converting it and the audio came out garbled. I tried the other choice and it took 4 hours and the audio was a little bit better but still terrible.
I wouldl ook for another source to use.

The advantage of using a registry fix over a utility is that you can choose what you want your caps lock key to do and it does not take any additional memory the way a utility does.

Don't get me wrong - do what works for you If you like utility's use them. I like the registry fix for this -is costs no memory and is very flexible.

I've had AntiCapsLock in my StartUp for years. It makes *that* key behave like the Shift key. It's archived in places like http://www.thedance.net/~win95/ and still work in XP.

Unfortunately PDFCreator doesn't convert Word TOCs into clickable links the same way as PDF995 (also freeware). Additionally, PDFEDIT995 adds tonnes of features that PDFCreator doesn't have.

PDFCreator is fine for quick and simple jobs. For a more professional output with many of the Adobe features I'd stick with pdf995 from http://www.software995.com/

Personally, I'm not offended by the existence of the Caps Lock key. I'm more offended by the very limited functionality. Fortunately, I found CAPshift to greatly enhance the possibilities for this pretty basic button:

If you want a general password manager that syncs with your PDA (PalmOS and Windows Mobile) I would recommend trying out eWallet from Ilium Software. It's not Open Source or free but it's superb and enables you to carry passwords with you everywhere.

When I first saw the title, targetting users who keep many windows open at once, I was hoping you were presenting a solution for the limited resources problem on XP. But I was nevertheless quite pleased with this utility, since the standard Alt-Tab is just not sufficient when 50-75 windows need to be managed simultaenously.
Of course, the default mode of the program only displays 12 lines of text, so my first attempt at configuration was aimed at getting more applications on that screen at one time. The dimensions of the window are indeed configurable - theoretically up to 100 lines - but at a certain point they just scroll off the screen without a scrollbar. I found that I was able to reasonably go up 25 lines, which is already a big jump from the standard alt-tab. I was even able to get it to 30 lines by positioning it as "center" (oddly, with the position set to "top", there is always a significant margin above it. to use the whole screen, "center" must be chosen.)
However, to see all 75 windows at once, I needed to move to "icon" mode (instead of "vertical list"); this mode can provide a nice overview of *hundreds* of windows, since it only displays the icons. If you need a particular window, it won't help much, but if you need to pick a single application at of the bunch, you can find it immediately.
However, when so many windows are in use, what we really need is the ability to see the list of titles in multiple columns (currently, widening the window does not add columns). Hopefully the writer will add this one day. [And, for the meantime, since the icon list is the only way to see all windows at once, I am going to be using both the icon list as well as the text list; Therefore, I'd prefer to have two separate hotkeys for these two lists, or a quick way to move between the modes without going to the configuration dialog.]
The "instance list" is particularly useful - get all of the windows belonging to the current program, or to a particular program on the list. Great concept!
The right click functionality is very useful. For instance, on the Alt-F12 screen, one can access the process info, and do things such as close windows or end processes. A few issues here:
1] The process info window appears *on top* of the window image. But when you are using an enlargened process list window (as I am), there is plenty of space above and below, and there is no reason to obscure the window image.
2] After performing actions such as "close", the list should not disappear, since it is natural to use that situation to close multiple windows.

Finally, to end on a positive note, an example of how flexible the program is in its current form: I tend to move the mouse randomly as I alt-tab, and in this case this created a conflict, since the mouseover triggers a select on the alt tab screen. But sure enough, within several moments I found that I was able to disable the mouseover effect from the configuration screen.

Thanks for recommending this tool. Initial impressions are great. I particularly like the "left-right pane order" option - all other windows apps work that way already (e.g. Explorer's list of folders on the left then the specifics of each on the right) Although it's completely logical it had never occured to me that it was missing from the Alt-Tab tool.
The "minimize windows to tray with right-click on minimize button" option is also very useful (although only peripherally related to Alt-Tab.

melvynadam, maybe be a good example to Ari and expand on your comment - WHY do you use Maxthon? What's 'cleaner' mean?

I love the fact that you’re expressing more opinions now in your posts. The old “this tool’s cool. try it type posts really didn’t do much for me.
With this latest post though you’ve gone too far – now you’re dictating to me instead of recommending a tool! “I use Firefox. If you do not – you should.â€? Actually I’ve tried it and prefer something else. I use Maxthon. It does everything Firefox does and more. It’s cleaner and I have no problems displaying any web page designed for IE compatibility (the vast majority, this blog excluded ).
Since I’m a savvy user and know how to secure my system I have no worries about the flaws in the IE engine and therefore consider it a risk worth taking. Obviously, I’m not 100% secure. None of us are. All any of us are doing is making the best compromise between functionality, usability and security. You think Firefox is the best for that compromise whilst running it on an inherently flawed foundation (Windows). I disagree.
